After 10 years of marriage and 3 kids, my family took a dream vacation to Montego Bay, Jamaica. It was the first family vacation we'd ever taken, so I wanted to be able to wear something special on the trip. I wanted it to be something a little different than your traditional anklet and yet still comfortable. I looked around and discovered "barefoot sandals." I liked them, but none of them were exactly the right style nor did they live up to my standards for quality. So I made my own, in all kinds of colors and styles to go with different outfits and moods.

I arrived in Jamaica with my cool new "barefoot sandals" and, much to my surprise, everywhere I went, women and girls would stop me and ask me where I got them. A few women talked me into selling them several pairs! (Remember: I made these just for ME to wear, not to sell.) I even had a native Jamaican woman chase me down the beach wanting to know where I had gotten them so she could create some herself.

Thus was born my company:
